InterContinental China-branded hotel to open by 2013

InterContinental Hotels Plc (IHG.L), the world’s top hotelier, expects to open a new brand of hotels specially developed for the Chinese market in 2012 or 2013, an executive said on Monday.
IHG announced its intentions to launch a hotel brand for the booming Chinese travel market earlier in the year, in line with moves made by other foreign multinational companies such as Hermes International (HRMS.PA) that launched a Chinese luxury brand, Shang Xia, last September. More >

Saudi prince sells hotel in China for US$61 million

SAUDI billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal’s investment group, Kingdom Hotel Investments (KHI), on Monday announced the sale of its Swissotel in Kunshan, China, to Malaysia’s TA Global for US$61 million (S$78 million).
The sale is to be finalised in March 2011, the investment group said.
